Concept & Story
At the heart of the project is Daisy, an adventurous protagonist, and her loyal chipmunk companion, Chip. Together, they explore iconic New York landmarks, encountering surprises and learning new things along the way. The story is crafted to spark curiosity and imagination, inviting children to interact with each page and become part of Daisy’s journey.

Design Approach
The visual direction was guided by the charm of traditional picture books, with a focus on warm textures, soft palettes, and character-driven narrative design. Every illustration was crafted to capture Daisy’s emotions and the city’s rhythm, from yellow taxis and squirrels in the park to the buzz of skyscrapers.
Typography and composition were designed to feel playful yet readable, ensuring accessibility for young readers while maintaining aesthetic harmony across layouts.
Process
-
Concept Development: We began by brainstorming ideas that would resonate with young audiences, focusing on fun, simplicity, and interactivity.

-
Illustration & Animation: Using Procreate and Adobe Fresco, we created vibrant illustrations and lively animations for each page.

-
AR Integration: Animations and sound effects were imported into Spark AR, where we built four unique AR effects—one for each page.

-
Production: After finalizing the digital assets, we published the AR effects and printed the physical storybook, ensuring seamless integration between print and digital experiences.
Accessibility
Implemented and Future Considerations

We also conducted research to identify additional ways to make the storybook welcoming for everyone, with plans for the future.
Outcome
The book evokes nostalgia and curiosity, inviting readers to rediscover New York through a child’s lens. It serves as both a design experiment in emotion-driven illustration and a storytelling exercise in world-building for young audiences.
